November 13th, 2008 · by Asmaa James · No Comments

Five days training on the topic “FREEDOM AND RESPONSIBILITY IN THE MEDIA” has ended in Accra, Ghana.  The workshop attracted 15 participants from Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Benin, Togo, The Gambia and Sierra Leone.  Participants were taken through topics such as:  The Code of Ethics (Codes, Norms and standards in journalism), Conflict reporting, Election reporting, accidents and calamity reporting, court reporting, etc.

The different journalists were very happy to learn more on the Codes of Ethics as participants share the same experience.  Professor Barbara Thomas who was the trainer taught extensively on the topics and urged all participants to follow these ethics.  Self regulation and media accountability were also taught in the training.  Journalists from these African countries did a lot of group work and shared the same experiences.
